The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may not have the social media following to compete with the likes of the Cowboys, Steelers, and Patriots, but this offseason the digital marketing department has extended its reach creatively to its full potential and more.
The organization has been hyping up the new season for awhile now through several ways. On Facebook, a simple countdown of jersey numbers posted each day has seen amazingly high engagement. The Bucs also have found a way to make a traditional form of newsletter marketing seem fresh with creative imagery. Of course, every sports team sends newsletters, but the Bucs design is engaging, captivating, and easy-to-read. As “The Business of Sports” blog says best “these images really grab the recipient and should do well to drive a high click-through count.” We agree.
What caught our attention was the incredibly simple, but spellbindingly entertaining video posted yesterday on the Bucs Facebook page. With 2,000 likes and 300 shares in one day, it’s safe to say the marketing department is getting the fans excited for the new season.
Some studies show that 90% of Facebook users don’t return to a fan page once they click the Like button. The Buccaneers have given fans reason to return each day, and with Sportsdigita’s “Save Your Mate” game also hosted on the page … fans now even have a reason to stay.
